It was nowhere near her fault that cafeteria couldn't accommodate her specific needs. Oh no. They could provide blood, organs and ectoplasm galore but never something suitable for someone like Felicite. It wasn't like she was particularly picky. She simply needed natural-ish food, a lot of it and it HAD to presented in a way that pleased her. It it wasn't pretty, there was no chance in a frozen hell it would go anywhere near her mouth. It had too look worthy of being eaten.

This drove her here, to the kitchen to try to do what few have suceeded to do before here: make her something palatable. Felicite was all prepared in her pink, ruffly apron over her school clothes, she simply needed inspiration for a masterpiece of a meal. But most of all, she needed to figure out how exactly a blender worked.

[Why hasn't this been answered yet? XD /short sub-starter]

The cafeteria during the summer months was typically abandoned--by both students and staff, alike. A good percentage of those who resided here, at Zodiac, had residences elsewhere--and most chose to go vacationing or back to their loved ones or look for seasonal work as opposed to staying on campus for the few summer classes that were offered or for no particular reason at all. Or, of course, if they had no home of their own. Zodiac was generous: one could stay here if there was no other option, and be provided with anything that they needed. ('Necessity' being a loosely-defined term.)

In this case, the small army of chefs and servers that usually dominated the kitchens was on leave, and those who expected to be fed were provided with the option of making their own meals or going out to town and getting something for themselves. (The school maintained a stance of 'statutory neglect' during these months, although the professors were well aware that those who could, went and got themselves plastered without the presence of adult supervision. So long as they didn't destroy or attack anything... maybe they should start rethinking that policy.)

Francis had no problem with this--he may as well have applied for a chef's position, with his culinary skills, if he'd desired it. Pressing open the steel doors that gained him access to the modernized main kitchen, he was intent on heading toward the freezer to make his own lunch... but spotted a regal presence a split second after entering.

Hmmm... this girl... with her long, kept hair (nary a strand out of place, he observed with amusement) and frustrated aquamarine eyes... which were blinking at him, currently.

"Why, 'allo. What 'ave we, 'ere?"

[Gonna break your little heart/watch you take the fall/laughing all the way to the hospital~]

It would have been nice if the instruction manual that had come with the blender was still in existence, she sighed. It had probably long ago been recycled, thrown away or used to wrap up intestines of a nameless variety. For now, she had to settle for glaring at the device, trying to will the knowledge of how to use it to pass into her mind. It was not the first time she had wished she was something more useful than a Dames Blanche but the wish for being a sort of technopath was certainly a new one.

She was so zoned in on her own little angst that she had even ignored the existence of everything around her, including the person whom had entered the room recently. In not one of her more brilliant moments, she stuck a finger by the blades of the blender and accidentally pressed a button.

Okay, being a Dames Blanch wasn't so bad after all. It meant that instead of having her finger sliced open or even clean off from her shining moment of stupidity, it just meant a long stream of extremely nasty cussing in both French and the bits of Italian she had picked up from tourists of her homeland. After she had wriggled her hand out of the whirring blender and lightly slapped it o get it to stop, she examined her hand. not a scratch, even to her nails but she could feel the bruise forming.

Then, and only then, she finally acknowledged the other person, or, more likely in the school, entity, that had entered the room. It was a teacher. A teacher that had heard Miss Felicite, usually a picture of obnoxiously good behavior, do something very very stupid and then swear like a drunken sailor.

"Erm," she thanked the Heavens for her usual expressionless facade, "do you know how to operate a blender?"

{{My goodness, I adore that song}}

Francis wasn't sure if laughter would be appropriate in this situation, but his lips did twist upward in clear amusement. The girl, however calm on the exterior, gave off a flustered air that hung above her head. Along with embarrassment. That was to be expected, given that she'd practically stuck her hand in the blades as if it was the only viable solution to her... problem. Was she trying to cook?

"Certainly not in z'at fashion, mademoiselle." A little teasing never hurt.

Walking to the girl's side, he took her hand in his own--what no-touch policy?--and examined her fingers, noticing the lack of injury. "You're a curious one. What were you trying to make, petite? You don't 'ave any ingredients on z'is counter."

Before she could stop herself, her face had scrunched itself up in response to her being teased. Félicité was a proud thing by nature and could not help but have rather childish reactions to any sort of embarrassments that befell her. Usually she was able to hide behind a stoic mask but her flustered state was too prominent to hide. Of course, being in a state of hunger did not help her acting abilities.

"I am well aware of that now."

She squirmed a smidgen at the sudden contact, ears pinkening a bit out of more embarrassment. "I wanted to see how this blender worked before wasting food."

Ah, the flushed face of one still young in her years. And perhaps a bit naive as well. Francis was no stranger to masks--and considering the fidgeting of the girl before him, it was clear that he'd caught her in a moment of... weakness. Or what she thought was weakness. Why hide tears, smiles, gritted teeth, or elsewise? Despite his years among humankind, he didn't think he'd ever fully understand man's love of putting up fronts. (The world of water was full of deception, but there was always a twisted honesty that accompanied such mischief.)

Smiling as the petite blonde allowed him her hand, he wondered if she'd ever even touched a cooking utensil. "Bien entendu." He gently parted with her fingers and went to unplug the blender as a precautionary measure. (No need for further embarrassment.) "Z'ere is plenty to go around. Per'aps I can 'elp with your...predicament."

Even before the Zodiac School, Felicite was taught that if one exposes any weaknesses, it was only a matter of time before someone uses them against you. Of course, that never happened to her personally, she simply passively observed its frequent occurrence and put up a mask as a precautionary defense. though, despite the defense in place, her true emotions occasionally reared their ugly head. Like when the man went as far as to even unplug the blender. She was not stupid enough to get her hand caught in it twice. She was new to cooking, not mentally deficient!

"I was aiming to make something by my self." Though admittably, trying to teach herself to cook was not the wisest plan. However, the kitchen was starting to overwhelm her. "Fine, a little help would be appreciated."
